Real-time technology key to on-demand air transportation
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - March 22, 2007 - As excitement builds in anticipation of emerging air taxi services, ImagineAir has developed an innovative scheduling system that instantaneously matches passenger requests with available aircraft to maximize operating efficiency. Since ImagineAir passengers pay only for the miles they actually fly, it is essential for the company to minimize empty repositioning flights.
ImagineAir is the first on-demand aircraft operator to enable customers to plan, pay for, and confirm flights through an online reservations system. When a flight request is submitted online, ImagineAir's reservation system sorts through millions of potential routes in a matter of seconds, producing a list of available flights and feasible routes. The result? The customer knows immediately whether a flight is available, and then ImagineAir's entire flight schedule is re-optimized when the passenger books the flight.
The system also monitors pilot duty and aircraft maintenance scheduling. Before accepting a reservation, it verifies that all pilots scheduled to fly that day meet the FAA's regulations for both duty and rest time and that every aircraft is on schedule with ImagineAir's stringent maintenance program.

ImagineAir's daily flight schedule is driven primarily by passenger requests, meaning that with each new reservation, the company's entire flight schedule can change, even in the middle of the day. To ensure all changes are communicated immediately, ImagineAir pilots carry personal digital assistants (PDAs), which track scheduling changes in real time. Our pilots also utilize PDAs to plan flights and update information in the optimization system's database.
